About Melissa

Writing has always been my first love. Finding inner peace has always been my deepest wish. Through mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and writing, I fuse these practices to help others connect to their own creative spark and the peace that exists within.

I am the editor of the essay collection Going OM:

Real-Life Stories on and off the Yoga Mat (Viva Editions 2014), featuring a foreword by Cheryl Strayed, and the author of two poetry chapbooks.

Yoga & Writing Workshops

As an E-RYT500, YACEP-certified yoga teacher and university instructor of creative writing, I offer a variety of workshops, specializing in Mindful Writing, Chakras, Yoga Philosophy, Yin Yoga, and more.

It's my aim to help students discover the inner peace that exists within them. My workshops and retreats fuse poetry, philosophy, and a lighthearted spirit to help students feel relaxed, inspired, and more deeply connected to themselves and the world around them.

Melissa's sweet presence, soothing voice, and beautiful instruction create a space for me to go deeper within and experience healing and relaxation.

--- Kelly J.

Melissa is an excellent writing instructor: her quick and genuine smiles and her enthusiasm draws people to her. I only wish I’d found her writing events sooner!

--- Mike F.

Thank you, Melissa, for sharing your expertise with our group today.  I'm afraid I am a beginner at 72 years of age, but felt uplifted enough to start writing, after a long hiatus, when I arrived home.

--- Maggie A.
